New Year,   New Ground.

Welcome to day four of our 14 days of prayer and fasting devotional series!

Each day of this series we will dive into a Spirit-led word from one of our amazing Angelus Temple and Dream Center Ministry Leaders and Directors! We encourage you to prayerfully join us as we humbly examine where our God is leading us in this new season, as well as the new thing He has already begun in our midst.

Today we will be hearing from the amazing Liana Garcia, about choosing to worship God regardless of circumstances, and how, in worshipping in the midst of struggles, God's power rests upon us.

Day 4: Worship: A Spiritual Weapon of Obedience and Faith

by Liana Garcia

Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you” (Genesis 22:5).

Worship is the first thing in Scripture that man offers to God. In Genesis 22, Abraham, in obedience to God, prepares to sacrifice his son Isaac. This moment marks the first mention of worship in the Bible, and it teaches us  something profound: worship is not about a song or a ritual. It is about surrender, obedience, and faith.

Worship is the one thing we can offer to God that He did not first give to us. He gives us breath, life, and
provision, but our worship is a choice—a posture of the heart that declares, "Lord, You are worthy of my trust, my praise, and my devotion, no matter what I face." Sometimes worship feels easy, like singing a song in joy. Other times, worship is a decision, a step of faith in the middle of the valley. Maybe you’re in a season where you feel stuck, overwhelmed by finances, praying for a family member, or weighed down by trials. In those moments, worship is not about how you feel—it is about your faith. When you worship through the storm, you declare that God is bigger than your circumstance. It’s in the secret place, when you bend in worship instead of breaking under pressure, that God meets you. Worship shifts the atmosphere, not just around you, but within you. As you honor God, His peace, joy, and blessings begin to flow.

Remember, worship isn’t something God forces on us, though one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). Let us not wait until we are required to worship. Instead, let us choose now to say, "Here I am, Lord. I will worship You in the storms and in the joy. When trials come, don’t let them steal your worship. Instead, let your worship be your weapon. Whether you kneel, lift your hands, or sing, choose obedience and surrender. Say, “God, I trust You. You are faithful.” Watch as your heart begins to shift and as God’s presence brings clarity, strength, and breakthrough.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of worship. Help me to choose to worship You in every season of my life,
whether in the valley or on the mountaintop. Teach me to offer You my obedience and faith, even when
I feel weary. Let my worship be a weapon that draws me closer to You and releases Your power in my
life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection:
What area of your life needs breakthrough today? Spend time in your secret place, worshiping God and
surrendering it to Him. Trust that He will answer you and strengthen you in His perfect timing.
