Welcome to day two of our 14 days of prayer and fasting devotional series!

Each day of this series we will dive into a Spirit-led word from one of our amazing Angelus Temple and Dream Center Ministry Leaders and Directors! We encourage you to prayerfully join us as we humbly examine where our God is leading us in this new season, as well as the new thing He has already begun in our midst.

Today we will be hearing from our Angelus Temple Kids Pastor, Bernice Befort, about the profound, loving, and poetic relationship between us and God, as mirrored in Psalms 23.

Day 2: A poetic love

By Bernice Befort

Happy 2025 Everyone!

This month at Angelus Temple Kids, we’ll explore the powerful topic of prayer and discover the incredible connection we can have with God. As a child, I remember being captivated by how my dad and the church leaders prayed. Their words flowed effortlessly, almost like poetry. I realized these heartfelt prayers stemmed from a deep and personal relationship with God.

One of our Power Points for the kids this month is: “I can pray to God because I have a relationship with Him.”

Thinking about this Power Point reminded me of King David’s deep connection with God. I’m grateful for the Psalms, which reveal his heartfelt prayers. His relationship with God was incredibly strong, beginning at a young age. One of my favorites is Psalm 23, where David expresses his profound love and gratitude for the Lord as a shepherd.

Whenever I meditate on Psalm 23, I feel a sense of peace and calm. It helps alleviate anxiety and stress and reminds me of the great relationship we can have with God and the love He has for us.

Throughout this year, whenever you feel anxious or overwhelmed, may I encourage you to turn to Psalm 23? Remind yourself that the Lord is your loving Shepherd. Reflect on the promises of peace, protection, and wisdom found in this chapter, and allow them to strengthen and uplift you.

During this time of prayer and fasting, I encourage you to join me in praying for the children of our church. Let’s pray that their faith in God will grow stronger and that they will develop a deep and meaningful relationship with Him.
